Dark Knight Start - WoL is smiling up at the claymore she's holding. Fray is in the background, unamused. Fray says, "So what did the voice tell you? On why you are to become a Dark Knight?" WoL says, "Voice? What voi-" White-out, zoom-in to WoL's face. "Huh!? But this isn't a voice! This is another echo attack!" There are two Undead in a detailed b&w hatch style, each holding a claymore. (One is wearing the Elite Knight armor and Gargoyle Helm, the other is wearing the Ordained Dress and Pontiff Knight Crown.) Dark... Knight...? ! Dark S-! The thought is interrupted with a white-on-black closeup on the WoL's face and warbled lines in the back. The WoL turns to Fray, excited. "I heard it! I heard the voice!" "Excellent." "It said because the class starts at lv30!" The other melee classes start at lv1. Fray is unamused.
Main Story Pause - Dragoon, level up! WoL looks concerned at the level up message as she stabs a monster. Dragoon, level up! WoL still looks concerned at the level up message as she hands a bag to an NPC. Dragoon, le- WAIT! WoL waves her hand in front of the message. "I'm getting too much EXP. The level cap is lv60 for the free trial. Main story quests are only lv54 right now." She's a lv58 dragoon. She looks down at her lance. Then tilts her head a bit. "I guess I'll start another class."
Main Story Continues - Ingredients get! WoL is smiling with hands in the air, showing off the milk, tea leaves, chestnut and pot of honey she got. WoL tosses the ingredients into a pot. "Quest says I need to make high quality tea this time. Should still be easy to make!" WoL stirs the pot in silence, as the crafting menu shows 100% progress with a 3% high quality chance rate. Ishgardian Tea is made, but it's Normal Quality. Alphinaud is holding one cup of tea. "How lovely." WoL is loudly sipping from her cup of tea, looking annoyed. "My crafting gear isn't good enough. ...I'll just continue the story.
A black and white shot looking up a lot of stairs to Yharnam with tall towers, ghoulish statues and an amygdala crawling on the main tower. There is a hooded figure on the stairs holding a hunter's axe. The person smiles. "Home."
Another Main Story - Alphinaud says, "We're finally here." WoL says, "Good. Now to find some tea..." Cut to looking up a lot of stairs to Ishgard with tall towers and soldier statues. "...leaves." Alphinaud says, "Quite the sight, isn't it?" WoL looks a bit confused and then sudden white-out zoom-in onto her face. Alphinaud reaches out to WoL. "Are you alright!? An echo attack!?" WoL staggers forward, hand to head, shaking a bit. "I'm okay. It's just that this place seem familiar." "But isn't this also your first time here?" "It is, but... it reminds me of some place like-"
Main Story Start - WoL is looking at the menu while in a chef outfit and surrounded by various food dishes. The baby buffalo minion is munching on a slice of pie. "Next on the list are Ishgardian Tea and Sohm Al Tart. But they both need ingredients from the next story area." WoL brings out a lance. Tch. WoL is front of the Heavensward title screen and a lot of snow is falling. "Fine. I'll advance the plot." WoL is still in the chef outfit with lance in hand. "Let's go to Ishgard, Alphinaud." Alphinaud, the main story ally, is in a winter coat and looks concerned. "Where have you been-- Are you not cold!?" Still a lot of snow falling.
Crafting Drops - Botanist, level up! WoL is holding an ear of corn, while the baby buffalo minion and three sheep are looking at it. WoL opens up the menu, looking at the sheep. "Aw, you're all cute. Is there a minion of you too?" The menu says, "Golden Fleece. Drops SNURBLE TUFTS (used in Weaver recipe level 43)." WoL stares with a small smile. Class change! WoL changes to Dragoon gear with lance in hand. The minion and sheep stare. The WoL jumps. !!! The sheep are alarmed, with sudden lighting from above. Dragonfire Dive! The sheep are blown away as the WoL hits them with this attack. The baby buffalo minion stares from the back. In a small panel, "Weaver, level up!" WoL smiley faces at a roll of cloth.
Minion - Leatherworker, level up! WoL is holding a pair of boots, with a small boot pile behind her. Alchemist, level up! WoL is holding a potion, with a medium potion pile behind her. Carpenter, level up! WoL is holding a chair, with a large chair pile behind her. 0 inventory slots remaining. "I guess I should sort through my stuff." Staring nervously at the pile behind her. Tosses a pot. "Useless raid loot." Tosses a WHM staff. "Don't need healing gear." Looks at a square menu button. "Hm? What's this?" Presses an icon of a baby buffalo minion. An actual baby buffalo minion appears. CUTE!
Start - An NPC with a repeat quest icon is saying a wall of text about Noah and the Crystal Tower raids. The Warrior of Light (WoL) is shaking in frustration and despair while looking at the menu. "This quest never ends!? I have to...!" WoL presses the Abandon quest button. The NPC calls out for the WoL to wait, but the WoL runs away, saying sorry, maybe another time! The WoL is hunched over, holding the pot, sighing. "This kind of adventure isn't for me. I should quit." WoL looks up. "But there's still something I have to do." CRAFTING. Zoom-in on determined face surrounded by icons of all the crafting jobs at level 1.
nonadventure, a (mostly) ff14 journal comic. A level 51 dragoon is holding three orbs in one hand, a pot in the other, and thinking it's time to turn in this quest. This is a new player sprout in the free trial, post-ARR. This comic takes place when patch 5.4 was current.
